David Anthony Borrelli

David Anthony Borrelli, a cherished family man, loyal friend, and respected member of the Salem community, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in his hometown of Salem, Ohio. Born on December 14, 1938, to the late Anthony and Dorothy (Rogers) Borrelli.

A proud 1957 graduate of Salem High School, David's work ethic and dedication shone brightly throughout his career. After initially working at Lincoln Machine, he joined the team at General Motors in the stamping plant, where he was one of the first ten employees hired at the facility's inception. His commitment to his role was unwavering until his retirement in 1993, marking a significant milestone in his life and allowing him more time to enjoy his passions.

David's interests were as rich and varied as his character. A devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church, he found solace and community within its walls. His adventurous spirit was evident in his love for travel with his wife Lorna, exploring new destinations, and creating lasting memories. David enjoyed sports and was also an avid golfer, boasting the impressive achievement of two hole-in-ones-a testament to his skill and persistence on the green.

He found joy in the simpler pleasures of life, too, such as the companionship of his beloved dogs, Tubby and Sugar, and the taste of a fine wine shared with friends and family. David's zest for life was infectious, and he inspired those around him to embrace each day with enthusiasm.

David's loving nature extended to his devoted family. He is survived by his children Kathi (Wade DeLand) Davis of Hanoverton, Daniel Borrelli of North Lima, Richard (Madelyn) Borrelli of Sun City, CA, and David Allen Borrelli of Huntington Beach, CA; his stepson, James (Patty) Barnes; his sister, Toni Ann (Pete) Ramos; his grandchildren, Ethan Davis, Preston Davis, and Adriana Cooper; as well as his niece Ann Borrelli and nephew Sam Borrelli.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorna (Hamilton) Borrelli; brother, John Borrelli; his sister, Connie Borrelli; his stepson, Edward Barnes; his sister-in-law, Helaine Mercer; and his parents.


David's story is not one of an ending but a celebration of a life well-lived-a life filled with passion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the things he held most precious. As we bid farewell to David Anthony Borrelli, we honor a life that truly embodied the essence of a life well-lived. His journey on this earth may have concluded, but his spirit remains an everlasting beacon of love and kindness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Ruggieri officiating. Friends and family will be received from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Salem.
