Marilyn (Powell) Scott

Marilyn (Powell) Scott, a beacon of joy and love, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024, at the age of 61 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. Born on October 1, 1962, in East Liverpool, Ohio, Marilyn's journey was one of warmth, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family.

Marilyn was the beloved wife of Terry Scott, with whom she shared 12 wonderful years filled with adventure and mutual devotion. Her legacy of love continues through her children, Leanna Skiba, Cassandra (Justin) McKee, and Katy (Coleman Mauller) Scott, as well as her adored grandchildren, Payton Price, Everhett Dufresne, Trevor Jones, and Sawyer McKee. Her life was a testament to the power of familial bonds and the joy that comes from cherishing each moment together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Dale" and Joyce (Hazen) Powell, and her brother Gary Powell. The values they instilled in her from an early age laid the foundation for a life filled with compassion, generosity, and an ever-present smile that could light up any room.

Marilyn was a proud 1981 graduate of United Local Schools, where she formed friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. Her work ethic and friendly demeanor were hallmarks of her career, which included valued positions at American Standard, JCPenny in Alliance, and most recently at Whitehouse Fruit Farms. Marilyn's colleagues will remember her as a dedicated and joyful presence, and most importantly a friend.

Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. An exceptional cook and baker, Marilyn's culinary creations were not only delicious but also award-winning. Her love for singing and dancing was infectious, often becoming the centerpiece of gatherings and celebrations. Marilyn's hands were rarely still, as she crafted beautiful pieces through crocheting, a skill that brought her many accolades and the admiration of her peers.

Marilyn's love for nature was evident to all who knew her. She found peace and contentment in watching the deer and the changing seasons outside her window. Fishing trips were not just about the catch but about immersing herself in the tranquility of the outdoors. Her travels and vacations were adventures that she embraced wholeheartedly, always eager to explore new places and experiences.

Above all, Marilyn's grandchildren were the joys of her life. Her eyes sparkled brightest when she was with them, and her gentle spirit and funny antics will be cherished memories that live on in their hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring at 6:00 PM with Pastor Quint Bryan officiating. Friends and family will be received two hours prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Mottown Cemetery at a later date.
