Aiko “Susie” Deavers, of Salem died at 9:40 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in Essex of Salem following an extended illness. She was 73. Susie was born on July 8, 1935 in Miyako, Japan, a daughter to Machekumur and Kanemega (Kamehama) Tomori. She was a homemaker who enjoyed flowers, jewelry, and spending time with her family. She also loved listening to country music. Aiko is survived by her five children; John and William Deavers, both of Youngstown, Charlene Simpson & her husband John of Columbiana, Amy Smith & her husband Jeff of Greenford, and Mary Siciliano & her husband Al of Youngstown; by her two brothers and five sisters; by her six grandchildren, Nakesha Oliver & her husband Jason, Shawna Simpson, Amanda Smith, Mercedes Simpson, Samantha & Preston Smith; and by her two great-grandsons, Sean Oliver and Mack Simpson Wyss. On behalf of Susie’s family, all services will be private. No calling hours will be scheduled. Memorial contributions can be made in Susie’s honor to the family c/o Brown Funeral Home. Her family would like to send a special thank you everyone at Essex and Hospice of the Valley for the care and love that they both provided.
