Alfonso âAlâ J. Kress Sr. 93, of Salem passed away Sunday, Dec. 16th at Essex II Nursing Home in Salem. He was born August 8, 1914 in Morgan, PA to the late Thomas and Agatha (Salonis) Kress. Mr. Kress moved to Salem in 1972 following a 50 year farming career on the family dairy farm in Leetonia. He is a member of St. Paulâs Lutheran Church in Leetonia, and worked at Clark Pulley for 4.5 years. Al was a past member of the Lisbon Senior and Salem Retiree Clubs and Midway Grange, as well as a member of the Salem Senior Club. Al is survived by; his wife Edna V. (Cox) Kress, a son Jim (Lorre) Kress of Salem, a daughter Linda (Dale) Francis of West Milton, OH, four grandchildren; Pamela K. Velazquez of Poland, OH Matthew Kress of Orange , TX Douglas J. Kress of Canfield, Christina L. Wyatt of Richmond, KY and twelve great grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by his parents and six sisters and four brothers. Services will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Salem on Friday, Dec. 21nd at 11:00AM with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 PM and also 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Firestone Cemetery in Columbiana.
