Ann Freeman

Ann F. Freeman, 88, of Alliance passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Alliance Community Hospital surrounded by her family. Ann was born in Canton the daughter of the late Frank and Amelia (Srmag) Spigelski. Ann Freeman was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. After her husband’s death, she opened Freeman’s Circle Grocery in Deerfield, which was formerly a produce stand operated by Ann and her husband. She retired in 1986 from the former ILKA Pottery in Beloit and had worked at Queens China. Ann was a member of the Christopher Columbus Lodge, a lifetime member of the Roma Society, a member of the William Penn Club in Alliance, as well as the VFW and American Legion posts in Sebring. She was an avid bowler with the Alliance Women’s Bowling Assoc. and enjoyed yard work, jigsaw puzzles, slot machines and especially spending time with her family. Ann is survived by five daughters; Bonnie (Dennis) Anderson of Alliance, Linda Martin of Akron, Carol McIlvain of Sebring, Joann (Ron) Cochran of Alliance, Joyce Pettigrew of Alliance, two sons; Ralph (Sherry) Freeman, Gary Freeman both of Alliance, a step daughter Bonnie Kay (William) Wilson of Homeworth a step son Larry (Linda) Freeman of Alliance, a granddaughter Kelly (Dave) Campbell Lewis whom she raised, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. She is also survived a sister Amy Phillippi and a brother Pete Spigelski both of Canton. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Freeman on May 25, 1974 and a sister Mildred Frame. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 with Pastor Chris Martin officiating at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 8 PM with the family present from 6 to 8PM. Burial will be in Alliance City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Ann’s honor to the Alliance Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice 885 S. Sawburg Road, Alliance, OH 44601.
