Archie A. Chapman 79, of North Benton died Friday afternoon at Timken Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Archie was born on February 6, 1929 in Letart, West Virginia the son of the late William and Garnett (Blessing) Chapman. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, and a member of the former Beloit Wesleyan Holiness Chapel. Archie retired from SIA Abrasives after 36 years of service and then worked part time at the Sebring Sunoco spending time with his friends while he worked on automobiles, but Archieâs favorite pastime was rocking with his grandchildren. Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife Margel (Gandee) whom he married October 14, 1955, two daughters; Denise (Lee) Maley of Dunbar, PA, Bonnie (Philip) Saunders of North Benton a son Joe (Rhea) Chapman of Alliance, six grandchildren; Laura (Steve), Robin (Ed), Kelly (Bret), Stacy, Jonathan and Alex, six great grandchildren; Ryan, Michael, Rebecca, Kaitlyn, Stephen and Sonja. He is also survived by six sisters; Mary Bonecutter of Point Pleasant, WV, Pearl Weigand of Procterville, OH, Myrtle Roush of Letart, WV, Ida Holloway of Plano, TX, Inez (Ray) Melton and Bea Whittymore of Kirkland, IL and one brother Bill Chapman of Kirkland, IL. He was preceded by his parents and one brother Lester. Funeral Services will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Dec. 9th with Rev. Lee Maley and Rev. Scott Heskett officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
