Barbara Jean Applegate

Barbara Jean (Berry) Applegate 88, of Sebring, Ohio passed away on December 18, 2017 with her family present. The daughter of the late Henry Ellsworth and Margaret Mae Berry. She was born July 23, 1929, in Sebring, Ohio. She was a graduate of Sebring McKinley High School. She worked as an Executive Secretary at Copeland Oaks. She was one of the original engravers at the Sebring Trophy Shop. Barbara was a faithful and a very active member of the Sebring United Methodist Church, and served as President of the Women’s Society. She was an enthusiast of Sebring High School sports, scrap-booking and crafting. She will be remembered for her strength, creativity, intelligence and kindness as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and neighbor.

Survivors include her children Chris (Kerry) Cochran, Terry (Lisa) Applegate, Carol Kline and daughter-in-law Lori Applegate; grandchildren Matthew, Erin and Allison Cochran, Nathan Applegate, Taylor and Mackenzie Kline; great-grandchildren Cael and Bria Cochran. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Norman F. Applegate whom she married August 15, 1953; son Gordon Applegate; brother Clyde Berry; sisters Eva Jane Berry, Janet Elizabeth Lieder, Eleanor Gertrude Waugaman and Jessie Margarette Row.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with pastor Elaine Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and an hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Sebring, Ohio. Friends may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.
