Barbara Jean "Pumpkin" Brown, 81 of Beloit and formerly of Deerfield past away on Thursday, February 15, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI on February 14, 1943 the daughter of the late Oakey Scott and Magdaline (McRobie) Scott. She was a 1961 graduate of Southeast High School and retired from Holiday Designs in 1985. Pumpkin enjoyed helping others and when she was able volunteered at the Sebring Concern and also was an avid reader even served as an instructor for a literary class. Animals also made up a large part of her life and her love for horses and dogs was at the top of her list especially her white horse "Ricky".
Survivors include her siblings Clara Jane Gotshall and Walter (Linda) Scott as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph H. Brown in 1999, two sisters Anna Mae Sigler, Birdie Louise Stevens and two brothers Oakey Scott and Michael Robert Scott. Barb's family would also like to thank the staff and caregivers of Bel Air Care Center for their loving care and friendship over the past five years.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home in Sebring at 1:00 PM. A time of visitation will be held the hour prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Deerfield Cemetery on Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
