Bertha Stone

Bertha L. Stone, 87, of North Lawrence, OH and formerly of Alliance, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2010 at her home with her daughters by her side. Bertha was born in Salem on January 15, 1923 the daughter of the late Orvey and Leila (Stanley) Sanor. Mrs. Stone was a graduate of Sebring High School in the class of 1941; she then graduated from Mount Union College in 1950 with a BS in Nursing. Bertha was a member of Grace Community Fellowship Church. Mrs. Stone worked as an RN at Alliance Community and Salem Hospitals; she was also the school nurse at West Branch Schools and for 18 years she was Dr. Kibler’s office nurse. Bertha also taught nursing at the Salem School of Nursing and was a former member of Mile Branch Grange. Survivors include her two daughters; Rebecca (Nelson) Burnell of North Lawrence, Krista (Don) Dowd of Alliance, four grandchildren; Benjamin (Michelle) Johnston, Matthew (Melissa) Johnston, Douglas (Tricia) Burnell, Luke (Alisa Saltsman) Dowd, five great grandchildren; Heather (Jason) Carter, April Bagley, Morgan Burnell, Cooper Burnell, Autumn Johnston, three great great grandchildren; Eva Carter, Ethan Carter and Klayten Courtney,and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dewaine “Stoney”, a son David Steven Stone, two infant daughters, two sisters Doris Fonner, Marie Wuthrick and two brothers; Robert Sanor and Richard Sanor. A Funeral Service will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor David Botha officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13th from 7-9PM. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
