Bettie C. Thompson, 87, of Sebring passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Bettie was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on June 6, 1924 the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Martha (Cook) Clapp. Mrs. Thompson was an over 50 year member of the Sebring United Presbyterian Church; where she once served as Secretary there and also a past Secretary at Faith United Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her four daughters; Martha E. (James Lucas) Thompson of Chicago, IL Mary T. (R. Stephen) Turner of Marshallville, OH Bettie J. (Steven) Ashbee of Sebring, Patricia L. (Donald G.) Eaton of Sebring, seven grandchildren; Rachel (Dan) Lucas-Thompson Graham of St. Paul, MN Michael (Rhonda) Turner of Marshallville, OH Gail (George) Ebey of Canal Fulton, Gordon Sage of London, OH Alexander Sage of Dayton, Erin Eaton of Greensburg, PA, and Tricia Eaton of Sebring. She is also survived by four great grandchildren; Matthew Turner, Kara Turner, Joseph Sage and Madison Sage. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harvey G. Thompson in March of 1983, two brothers; Martin M. Clapp, Willard Clapp and a great grandchild Douglas Turner. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Sebring United Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 25 from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM and the half-hour prior to the service at the Church on Saturday. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Friends may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
