Betty Louise Vernon, 83 of North Benton and formerly of Sebring passed away Thursday evening at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Alliance on October 19, 1925 the daughter of the late Walter and Nettie (Wendel) McFerren. Betty will be remembered as the Administrator of the Sebring Civic Center retiring after 15 years of service. Vernon was also selected by the Sebring Lions Club as âCitizen of the Yearâ for her work with the youth of Sebring. Survivors include; a son Jack 9Donna) Vernon of Sebring, a daughter Connie Davis of Alliance, and three sons; Harry (Sheryl) Vernon of Canton, Rodney (Tracey) Vernon and Curt Vernon both of North Benton, 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Betty is also survived by two brothers; Bill (Norma) McFerren of Alliance, Jim (Marge) McFerren of Sebring and a sister Jean Blake of California. Besides her parents Betty was preceded in death by a son Michael, a brother Walter, four sisters; Mae Doolan, Margaret Severance, Irene McElroy, Rose John and a brother Ronald. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with Pastor Joseph Peters officiating. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Quaker hill Cemetery in Sebring.
