Bruce Burlingette Wiegel 82, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Salem Community Hospital. Born in Cleveland, OH on Oct. 2, 1925 to Ralph L. Pry and Florence (Burlingette) Pry, Bruce was adopted and lovingly raised by Albert R. and Elizabeth C. (Pry) Wiegel. Living most of his life in Alliance, OH and moving to Sebring, OH in 2006. He was a graduate of Alliance High School in the class of 1943 and attended Dykes-Spencerian Business College in Cleveland, OH. He married the former DeLores A. Holzer on August 30, 1947 and celebrated 39 years of marriage prior to her death in 1987. Bruce served in the US Army during WWII as a staff sergeant with the Ninety Fifth Infantry Division, he was employed in industrial sales and worked for; Alliance Typewriter and Office Supply, Transue and Williams Steel Forging and Stamping Company and Davis Technology. Mr. Wiegel was a 60 year member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he previously served on the church counsel, sang in the choir and is a member of Club 55, he also was a 50 year member of the Alliance Rotary Club, having served as president, and was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow, a member of Mended Hearts, the American Legion Post 166 and the DAV, Bruce served two terms on the Alliance Board of Education, was a member of the Alliance Jaycees having served as president, and also the Alliance Country Club, Mount Union Century Raiders Club, the Alliance Area Republican Club and was an advisor for Junior Achievement. He was an avid sports fan and supporter of Alliance High School, Mount Union College, Sebring High School, as well as the Browns and Indians. Mr. Wiegel is survived by his two daughters; Cathy June (John G.) Evans of Mansfield, OH, Connie L. (Jack) Weaver of Alliance, and his grandchildren; Charlotte E. Evans of Mansfield, OH, John H. (Monika) Weaver III of Brussels, Belgium, Douglas Bruce Weaver of North Hollywood, CA, Blythe L. Evans of Venice, CA, and dear friend of 12 years, Ruth Wise of Sebring, OH. Bruce has also touched many lives of several young people (both locally and internationally) who also think of him as grandpa. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Robert Wiegel and his sister Wilma (Pry) Skully. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 12:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alliance with Pastor John Anderson officiating. Friends may call at the church two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Fairmount Memorial Park.
