Carl R. Mort Jr. 82 of Sebring passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024. He was born in Alliance, Ohio on March 25, 1942 the son of the late Carl Sr. and Eleanor (Griffin) Mort. A graduate of Sebring McKinley High School he furthered his education in the US Air Force as well as attending Kent State University. In his lifetime Carl worked for Parker Hannifin, and American Standard for many years as well as retiring from General Commercial Corporation.
Carl was a long time Sebring supporter and believed in giving back to his community; he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as a councilman on Sebring Council for 20 plus years as well as Sebring Mayor. He also was a member of the former Sebring Lions Club, the Saxon Club and the Sebring Athletic Booster Club. In his free time he liked to play golf, and traveling especially to Florida. However the most important thing was spending time with his family where you could always find him supporting his grandkids in whatever they were doing at the time.
Survivors include his wife Lottie (Palmer) Mort, his children; Lisa (Jeffrey) Dennis, Carl R. Mort III and his six grandchildren; Cody, Lexi and Noah Dennis, Charles, Zoe and Brady Mort. He is also survived by two sisters Bonnie Greenamyer and Carol Oliver. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Ginny L. Mort in 2013.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sebring with Pastor Kristine Shoemaker officiating. A time of visitation will take place two hours prior to the service at the church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions can be made in Carl's honor to Trinity Lutheran Church 930 North 12th Street, Sebring, Ohio 44672.
