Carl Shipley

Carl W. Shipley, 88 of Smithville, OH and formerly of Salem passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Wooster Community Hospital. Carl was born in Guernsey County, Ohio on November 21, 1924 the son of the late Clarence and Ava (Arnold) Shipley, he was a graduate of Madison High School class of 1942 and worked at US Steel and also was a Milk Tester for several Dairy Farms, he attended the Winona United Methodist Church and was an avid Cleveland Indians Baseball fan. Survivors include his daughter Candy Anglin of Youngstown, two brothers Robert Shipley of Antrim, OH and William Shipley of Fairview, OH, two sisters Isabelle Buoni of Baltimore, OH and Ada Folz of Kalamazoo, MI, three grandchildren and a special friend and Caregiver Mary Martin of Smithville. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Laura Shipley on May 7, 2004, four sisters; Mary Jane Smylie, Ruth Anne Busche, Hazel Hope and Katheryn Blamble, a brother Harold Shipley and two sons Mark and Carl. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at Brown Funeral Home in Salem at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home the hour prior to the service.
