Caroline Katherine Ickes WELLINGTON â Caroline Katherine Ickes, formerly of Salem, Ohio, died at the home of her daughter on Monday, April 9, 2007, after several years of failing health. Born December 12, 1926, in Alliance, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Regina (Bodendorfer) Everth. She married the late LaMont L. Ickes on August 7, 1951. Mrs. Ickes and her husband moved to Salem from Mayfield Heights, Ohio, in 1963 where they operated the Ickes Funeral Home until late 2005 when they retired. She received her funeral directors license in 1979. Mrs. Ickes was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem, Salem Chapter 334 of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 Gold Star Auxiliary, and the Alliance Saxon Lodge. She has been a member of the Quota Club of Salem since 1964 where she served as president, secretary and treasurer of the Sixth District, and was âQuotarian of the Yearâ in 1993. She was the founding force behind the Saturday Speech and Hearing Clinic in Salem, serving as its coordinator for several years. The clinic is still in operation. She is survived by her daughter, Lyn Ickes of 27700 State Route 58, Wellington, Ohio 44090. Mrs. Ickes has requested immediate cremation with a private celebration of her life to follow at a later date. 4/10/07
