Charles French

Charles O. French, “Chuck” 82, a lifelong resident of Sebring, Ohio entered Paradise on April 21, 2014. Chuck was born Aug. 10, 1931 to Foster and Macel French. He was one of four boys in the French family. Surviving brothers are Carroll and Edward French. Chuck now greets his oldest brother, Austin, in Paradise. Mr. French graduated from Sebring McKinley High School in 1949, where he excelled in football and basketball. He married the love of his life, Janet Pettit, on August 10, 1950. Chuck and Janet had three children; Bonnie C. (Ralph) Mitschele of Livingston, N.J., Rev. Dr. Barry C. (Sharon) French of Akron, Ohio, Bruce C. (Susan) French of Columbus, Ohio and Peter (Linda) Jardine from South Africa. His grandchildren include: Kyle (Kate) Mitschele, Christopher (Megan) French, Kristin (Mynor) Avila, Collette (Matthew) Dimos, Brian French, Jason French and Kaitlyn Mitschele. Great grandchildren include: Samantha French, Cameron Dimos, Taylor French, Jane Mitschele and Graeme French. Besides his parents, wife and brother he has been reunited with his infant daughter, Barbara. Chuck was a hard worker and started working for Bob Vogel’s Clothing Store in his early teens. In 1963 Chuck and his brother Ed opened their own business: French’s Men’s Apparel in Beloit, Ohio. In 1975 Chuck worked for the Goodwill Publishing Company as a sales representative and mentor until retiring in 1996. Chuck was confirmed as a member of the Sebring Church of The Nazarene at age eleven. In the last seventy plus years he served on every position available within the church. He was also a life time member of the Sebring Rotary Club, and past President and Chairman of the Foreign Exchange Program. Chuck was also past President of the Sebring Country Club.
Chuck will be missed by his family and friends, but is now reunited with family and friends. “The Battle Is Over, The Victory Won, Life Everlasting Has Just Begun!” Amen!
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at The Sebring Church of The Nazarene with Rev. Mike Kimball and Rev. Dr. Barry French officiating. Friends may call at the Church from 11:30 AM till the time of the service on Saturday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. Memorial Contributions can be made in Chuck’s honor to The Sebring Church of The Nazarene 626 West Maryland Ave. Sebring, OH 44672 and or Sawyerwood United Methodist Church, 957 Mohawk Trail, Akron, OH 44312.
