Charles Shively

April 21, 1928 — February 25, 2012

Charles Franklin Shively, 83, was embraced in the arms of our Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2012. He was born April 21, 1928, to parents Robert and Roxie Shively and lived in Sebring, Ohio his entire life. Charles graduated from Sebring High School in 1946 and served four years as a Radio Technician in the Air Force, followed by one year in the Reserves. He worked as a tool and die maker for Chrysler Corporation for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. He married the love of his life, Janice Eddy, on September 11, 1950, and together they raised three children: Kathie (William) Ronci, Steven Charles, and Susan Pinto. Charles loved life; he passionately loved playing golf with his friends at Sleepy Hollow and also with his wife. His family meant everything to him. He also loved animals, and this devotion is a quality passed on to his children and grandchildren. Charles was a man of strong faith; he liked anyone and everyone he met. He always believed in and found the good in everyone. Besides his wife and daughters, left to cherish his beautiful memory are his granddaughters; Tiffany Bryant, Jamie (Stephen) Kirtley, Alyson Kelly, Jessica Kelly, and his great-grandchildren, Carter Kirtley, Ryan Kirtley, and Mia Kirtley. He also leaves his brother Robert (Joanne) Shively, and sisters Donna Singleton and Joan (Ferd) Pelich, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves behind beloved family dogs, Scooter, Abby, Ziggy and McHale. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Wanda Aikens, and his son, Steven Charles Shively. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 5:00PM at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home with Pastor Rick Sams officiating. A gathering of friends and family will take place the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
