Charles J Simmons

Charles (Jake) Simmons born February 9, 1933 to Walter and Bertha Simmons in Woodsfield, Ohio went home to heaven on December 25. Not only was that his eternal homecoming but the 65th wedding anniversary to his beautiful bride Betty J (McCaslin) Simmons.

Jake graduated from Wood County High School in Woodsfield, OH in 1952. Then served in the army during the Korean War. He and his wife moved to Alliance OH in 1955. Jake worked at the Alliance Machine Co. until he retired and also worked at the Hoover Co and retired from there. Jake and his son owned Micro Storage Ltd. What he took the most pride in though was his work in the Church he attended. He was an elder in the Alliance Church of Christ for 51 years. He loved driving and taking care of the Joy Bus. Jake also was highly involved when the location of that church was relocated from Union Ave to McCallum Ave.

Jake is survived by his wife Betty (McCaslin) Simmons. His sister MaryAnna (Simmons) Sweitzer of Hartville, OH. his son Timothy (Patty) Simmons from Sebring, OH. and daughter Sharon (Dave) Ray from Alliance, OH. There were 9 grandchildren Amy Gardiner, Carrie (Ron) Neff, Donald (Richelle) Rininger, Michael (Gina) Christy Jr, Matt (Trisha) Christy, Kylee Simmons, David (Katrina) Ray, Katrina (Marcus) Stenson & Aaron (Adrianna) Ray. 9 great grandchildren Maranda Neff, Sean and Mackenzie Rininger, Ayden Simmons, Delaney, Devin, Millie & Cash Christy, Jase Ray and many special nieces, nephews & cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Deborah Rininger, Great Grandaughter Amber Gardiner and brothers Guy Simmons and Larry Simmons

All are welcome to attend a celebration of life service for Jake that will be held January 6, 2018 at 2:00 at Alliance Church of Christ 9371 McCallum Ave. Alliance, Ohio.

Officiating Pastors will be honorary family member James Mauldin from Louisiana
