Charles Sligar

Charles R. Sligar, 85, of Beloit, Ohio passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Alliance Community Hospital. Charles was born in New Philadelphia, Ohio on July 17, 1927, the son of the late Frederick and Violet (Newell) Sligar. Mr. Sligar was a custodian for Marlington Schools for many years, retiring as head custodian. He enjoyed playing golf and telling jokes. Survivors include his two daughters Sally (Eckert) Densmore of Sebring, Sharon (Richard) Hall of Kensington; four grandchildren Kenneth Eckert of Youngstown, NY , Robert Eckert of Sebring, Sandrea Dayton of Alliance, and Amanda Schmucker of Alliance; five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister Martha Mays of New Philadelphia. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Percy) Sligar, two brothers, one sister, and a grandchild Charles McKinney. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2013 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 8:00 PM. Friends may call from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Private family interment will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in New Philadelphia. Memorial contributions may be made to Alliance VNA/Hospice 885 S. Sawburg Ave. Ste. 106, Alliance, OH 44601.
