Chester Bert

Chester J. Bert, 89, of Sebring passed away at his home on Thursday, September 29, 2011. Chester was born in Deerfield, Ohio on January 11, 1922 the son of the late Jules H. and Martha A. (Hutson) Bert. Mr. Bert was a US Marine Corps veteran serving in WWII; and retired as a Captain in 1987 from the Smith Township Police Department. Chester was involved in many things; a member and Past Master of the Sebring Masonic Lodge #626, a life member of Scottish Rite Bodies of Youngstown, a member and Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Alliance Chapter #296, life member of the American Legion Post #76, Sebring, life member of the Disabled American Veterans, life member of the National Rifle Association, life member of the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association, life member of the American Motorcycle Association and a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Survivors include his nieces and nephews; Sharon (Eldon) Wheeless, Terry (Diane) Bert, great nephews Dan and Don Wheeless, great niece Amy Wheeless and great great nephew Kaeden Wheeless. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Bert. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11AM at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home in Sebring with Bruce Slagle officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-8PM with the family present from 6-8PM a Masonic Service will be held on Sunday at 5:30PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fairmount Memorial Park. Arrangements are pending at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home in Sebring.
