Claude Brogan

Claude J. Brogan 86, of Salem died Friday morning at Salem Community Hospital. Claude was born in Alliance on January 8, 1923 the son of the late Ross and Daisy (Manypenny) Brogan. Throughout his life Claude was a very active person being involved in many things; as a senior in high school he worked at the Brogan Dairy delivering milk, he was a farmer for a majority of his life retiring from that in 1966, he operated the Case Equipment Business in the early 50’s, he owned and operated the Diamond Feed and Supply company for 21 years from 1950-1971, he bred and raised many ponies in the 1950’s and 60’, he was instrumental in starting the Palmyra Fire Department in 1954 and helped to build the fire station and was still an honorary member to date, he was the owner of C J Brogan Realty and was a broker for 40 years. Claude also served as a Past Master of Charity Lodge #530 and was a member for 53 years and he currently attended the Berlin Center United Methodist Church. Mr. Brogan is survived by his wife Lonetta A. (Brown) Brogan whom he married on January 20, 1974, seven children; James Lee Brogan of Alliance, Claudia J. (Robert) Lewis of Ravenna, OH, Cindy (Dexter) Le-Mon of Diamond, OH, Robert Clegg of Tulsa, OK, Rhonda (Byron) Bigelow of Austintown, Russell (Amy) Brogan of Thomasville, GA, Robyn (Jeff) Biery of Salem, seventeen grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Cristin, Ainsley, Mark, Jacquelyn, Joe, Ashley, Austin, Chelsey, Bryanna, Jeremiah, Hannah, Christopher, Jordan, Caleb, Travis, Mikaelyn, Halee, Alexis and Brogan. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister; Clyde Brogan of Norwalk, OH, Lois Campbell of Canton and a twin brother Claire Brogan of North Benton. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 infant brothers; Ross Jr. and Cletus and a sister Betty. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 16th at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Russell Libb officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, February 15th from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In Lieu flowers memorial contributions can be made in Claude’s memory to the Berlin Center United Methodist Church 15611 West Akron Canfield Road, Berlin Center, OH 44401.
