Cora Brotherton

Cora B. Brotherton, 91 of Sebring passed away Sunday evening at Crandall Medical Center. Cora was born January 5, 1918 in Westville the daughter of the late Alfred and Ethel (Case) Taylor. Mrs. Brotherton worked at Sebring Industrial Plating for 34 years as a secretary retiring in 1990. She was a graduate of the 1935 class of Beloit School attending all of the Alumni Banquets, she was a member of the Sebring Church of the Nazarene where she was very active in the Choir, the Praise and Worship team, the NWMS Council, a delegate to the district convention, the Church Board of Directors and S.A.M. (Senior Adult Ministries). Cora also loved to Square Dance, dancing with the Burliques, and she also enjoyed playing cards in Card Club. Mrs. Brotherton is survived by; her daughter Lonna Roberts of Sebring, two sons; Roger (Dee Anne) Brotherton and Gary (Dorothy) Brotherton both of Minerva, four grandchildren; Drew (Terri) Brotherton of Minerva, Vonda (Jim) White of Louisville, Todd (Janel) Brotherton of Columbus, and Amanda (Mark) Snellink of Sebring, four great grandchildren and a special nephew Dwaine Brotherton. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Emory “Dick” Dayton Brotherton on December 26, 1975, three sisters; Elva Brotherton, Dorothy Wood, Daisy Taylor and a brother Milton Taylor. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 with Mike Kimball officiating at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 PM with the family present from 6 to 8PM and the hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. Memorial contributions can be made in Cora’s honor to the Sebring Church of the Nazarene 626 West Maryland Avenue, Sebring, OH 44672.
