Dale E. Schoeni, 90 of Beloit, a life long resident of Knox Township passed away at Crandall Medical Center on Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Dale was born in Knox Township in Columbiana County on May 16, 1920 the son of the late Fred J. and Laura (Grove) Schoeni; he was a graduate of Goshen High School in the class of 1939. Dale worked as a farmer all his life; he also was the owner/ operator of Dale E. Schoeni Excavating and a partner and general manager of VanPort Stone and VanPort Sand and Gravel in New Castle, PA. Mr. Schoeni was involved in many activities; he was a member of the Bethel United Church of Christ, the Sebring Masonic Lodge #626, a Past Worthy Patron of the former Sebring Order of the Eastern Star, a 75 plus year member of Mile Branch Grange, he was an avid supporter of our local schools; serving on both the Knox and Mahoning Local School Boards for 13 years, he enjoyed golfing and was a member of Westville Lake Country Club. Dale has been selected as an Inductee into the 2010 West Branch Hall of Fame. Survivors include his wife of 69 years Edna F. (Bandy) Schoeni whom he married on June 21, 1941 of Beloit, two daughters; June (Robert) Wallace of Damascus, Jane (Jerry) Barth of Green Valley, AZ, two sons, Thomas Schoeni of Louisville, KY, John (Pamela) Schoeni of Sebring and six grandchildren Anna (Michael) Lesch, Benjamin (Christina) Barth, Andrew (Tomalin) Wallace, Aaron (Whitney) Barth, Todd Schoeni, Amy Wallace, nine great grandchildren and a brother Kenneth (Rita) Schoeni of Bowling Green, OH. Besides his parents Dale was preceded in death by a brother Frederick “Pete” Schoeni and three sisters Evelyn Hoopes, LaVerne Hahlen Mani and Lela Mae Denny. Services will be held on Monday, September 20, 2010 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Pastors Alecia Schroedel and Jerry Kruse officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, September 19th from 2-8 PM with the family present from 6-8PM. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park in Beloit. Masonic Services will be held on Sunday at 5:30 PM and a Grange Service will be held also on Sunday at 8PM. Memorial contributions can be made in Dale’s honor to the Bethel United Church of Christ, 25701 Buck Rd, Beloit, OH 44609.
