Delores "Boots" Welch

Delores J. “Boots” Welch, 74, of Sebring, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at Salem Community Hospital. Boots was born in Alliance on June 13, 1935 the daughter of the late Rea and Carrie (Dickens) Higgins. Mrs. Welch worked as the Dietary Manager for Copeland Oaks; she was a graduate of the Kent State University with a degree in Dietary Management, she was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary #6730, and member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 76. Boots was an avid reader, she enjoyed online shopping but especially enjoyed her many young adults that worked for her at Copeland Oaks. Survivors include her husband Richard “Gene” Welch of Sebring, whom she married on October 13, 1953 at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM, a son Mike Welch of Sebring, a daughter Betty (Drew) Brunie of Sebring, three grandsons; Christopher Brunie, Kevin Welch and Tommy Welch. She is also survived by a brother James Higgins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son Rob Welch on August 12, 1998, a granddaughter Monica Welch on March 10, 2001 and a brother Robert Higgins. Services include cremation.
