Dick Kerns

Dick Russel Kerns, 70, of Sebring, passed away at Salem Community Hospital on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008. He was born in Salem on Jan. 31, 1937, the son of the late Richard & Lucille (McNeal) Kerns. Dick was a “Believer in God” and a loving husband and father. He loved motorcycle riding, fishing, and country music and enjoyed teasing everyone. He was employed as a truck driver for Kuntzman Trucking for 34 years, retiring in 1998. Mr. Kerns is survived by his wife Dorothy (Woolf) Kerns whom he married on Oct. 23, 1954 at the Damascus Friends Church. Other survivors are his 2 sons David & Vicki Kerns of Homeworth,; Mark & Linda Kerns of Sebring; 2 daughters Sheree & Ivan Freed of Hartville; Amy & Buck Perkins of Sebring; 3 sisters Mary Davis of Spring, Texas; Jackie & Dick Egan of Beloit; Helen & Roger Myers of Beloit; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death his parents and a sister Patricia Faulkner of Alliance. Funeral Service will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Thursday January 24, 2008, with Pastor Steve Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family present 6 to 8. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Dick’s name.
