Donald R Tuel

Donald R. Tuel, 80 of Beloit passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Altercare of Alliance. He was surrounded by family. Donnie was born on May 6, 1938 in Alliance, Ohio to the late Herbert "Red" and Ruth (Nolan) Tuel. He was a supervisor for Alliance Machine, East Manufacturing, and MAC Trailer. Donnie was a lifelong member of St. Ann Catholic Church. In 1955, Donnie quarterbacked the only undefeated Sebring football team. He is a member of Sebring Hall of Fame both individually and with his 1955 teammates. Donnie played for Youngstown State, The Akron Pros and was the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in 1961. Donnie started the Little Warriors Program at West Branch and the Flag Football Program at Maple Ridge Elementary School. He coached many little league football and baseball teams.

Outside of his passion for sports, Donnie had a love for cars. He spent many nights painting cars at Tuel's Body Shop. He restored a '69 Volkswagen Convertible and was recently reunited with his red '57 Chevy Convertible. Donnie had a musical side to him. He was the lead drummer in the band affectionately known as "The Hoopies" and was "Always in the pocket." Donnie also enjoyed woodworking and his dogs. Above all, Donnie had a passion for family and enjoyed spending his time with his family and friends.

Donnie is survived by four children; Greg (Julie) Tuel of Columbus, Michael (Rene) Tuel of Beloit, Scott (Elaine) Tuel of Salem, Lisa (Les) Cole of Solon, OH.; a niece Melody (Jim) Scarpitti; dear friends Dean and Darla Grindley; ten grandchildren; Tiffany, Tarin, Taylor, Trent, Camie, Coley, Christian,Danielle, Samantha and Riley; and six great grandchildren. Besides his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by his wife Marlene S. Tuel who passed away on October 7, 2015 and a brother Oscar Tuel.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at St. Ann Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Father Thomas Dyer officiating. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to St. Ann's Parish or your own local church.
