Doris Vankirk

Doris Irene VanKirk, 94, of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Essex III of Salem. Doris was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia on May 6, 1918 the daughter of the late Charles and Daisy Loveall Shutler. She worked in the Royal China pottery. Mrs. VanKirk was a member of the Alliance Church of the Nazarene, Sweet Adelines, enjoyed playing cards with her family and playing the piano. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Donald F. Van Kirk whom she married June 17, 1961, two daughters Cathy Seacrist of Alliance and Brenda Caroll of Arizona; a son John Wilson of Beloit; 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers Ernest Shutler, Sam Shutler, John Shutler, Marvin Burke and one sister Nola Smith. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home with Glenn Davidson officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alliance Church of the Nazarene 1345 S.
