Doris Nee Switzer Wagstaff

Mrs. Doris Wagstaff (nee Switzer), age 96, formerly of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 30, 2007, at Crandall Medical Center. Doris was born October 4, 1910 in East Palestine, Ohio, daughter of Charles B. and Artie (Kintner) Switzer. Mrs. Wagstaff is survived by one stepson Clifford Wagstaff, 2 granddaughters, 6 great grandchildren (Who all considered her ‘Grandma’), 22 step great grandchildren, and several step great-great grandchildren. She is survived by one sister-in –law Vivian Switzer, nephews and nieces, Gary and Ruth Switzer, Ted and Eileen Huston, Wayne and Beulah Huston and Robert and Karen (Switzer) Hatfield and numerous grandnieces and nephews Doris was preceded by her husband, William Wagstaff in 1952; daughter Mary (Wagstaff )Cross in 1973; 8 stepsons , a brother Roy and sister-in-law Betty Switzer brother Bert Switzer, sister, Zoe and brother- in- law Edward Huston . Mrs. Wagstaff was a long time member of Faith United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Ohio and is currently a member of Sebring United Methodist Church. She was known for her Christian caring ways, and her good cooking. While working at Cambridge Tile Co. Cafeteria, her pies were a daily favorite. She taught many of the grandchildren how to make pies, noodles, and great pot roast. When she married William, she made every endeavor to keep his first family together, welcoming them into her home always, and treating them as her own. She was the very definition of love. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday August 2, 2007, at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Joy Blaney and Rev. George Schreckengost officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, Ohio. Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.
