Dorothy Ann (Woolf) Kerns

Dorothy Ann (Woolf) Kerns, 81 of Sebring, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 22, 2016 at McCrea Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Alliance.  She was born on June 4, 1934 in Alliance, to Levi and Mary Woolf.  She was a 1953 graduate of Sebring McKinley High School.  She married Dick Kerns on October 23, 1954.  Before becoming a lifelong homemaker, she was employed as a secretary at Alliance Manufacturing. Dorothy loved flowers, traveling to Dollywood in Tennessee, visiting Ohio’s Amish country and especially visiting Hartville.  She enjoyed watching sports and loved baseball above all.  She loved singing in the Alliance First Baptist Church choir and could often be heard singing or humming contently to herself.

Survivors include son Dave (Vicki) Kerns of Homeworth, son Mark (Linda) Kerns of Sebring, daughter Sheree (Ivan) Freed of Hartville, and daughter Amy (Buck) Perkins of Sebring.   She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, David Kerns, Scott Foster, Derrick Perkins, Joshua Kerns, Samantha (Kerns) Phillips, Matthew Kerns, Christopher Freed, Jennifer Freed, Tyler Perkins, Katie Perkins; 8 great grandchildren Colton Kerns, Meleah Kerns, Elizabeth Kerns, Brady Kerns, Jackson Phillips, Akali Freed, Alexander Perkins and Samuel Perkins, a sister; Shirley Engler of Alliance and a brother Donald Woolf of Sebring.  Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dick, sister Edna (Woolf) Wright and Carol (Woolf) Hickman and brothers Walter Woolf, Robert Woolf, James Woolf and a granddaughter Kellie Rae Kerns.

The family wishes to thank McCrea Manor and Crossroads Hospice for their kindness and loving care of Dorothy during the past few months.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home.  Friends may call at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM.  Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring.  Memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy’s honor to the American Cancer Society PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.  Friends may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home Sebring, OH (330) 938-2526.
