Dorothy Rarick

Dorothy Jean Buehler Rarick, 87, of Alliance, passed away on June 11at her home. She was born on August 3, 1925 in Sebring to Marie (Moran) Buehler and Frank Buehler. Besides her parents, one brother Elmer Robert Buehler and one sister Betty Jane Jones preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert David Rarick of Alliance. They were married November 27, 1947 in the First Emmanuel Church by Rev. Harry Schairbsum. Dorothy is also survived by three sons, Robert David Jr. & Opal Rarick of Salineville, Bruce Lee & Sharon Rarick of Alliance and Brent Alan & Karen Rarick of Sebring; grandchildren, Bradley Jason Rarick of West Melbourne, FL, Matthew David & Ellen Rarick of Canfield, Jamie and Craig Maternowski of Lorain, Jeffrey Rarick of Sebring & Heather & Michelle; Step-Grandchildren Tom & Stacy Skelding, Justin Skelding and Sarah & Troy Collins; Great-Grandchildren, Tyler & Trent Rarick of Canfield; Step-Great -Grandchildren Alyssa, Chloe, Thomas V., Sydney Skelding & Paige Collins. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dorothy graduated from Sebring McKinley High School in 1943 and she kept the class together for luncheons until her death. She also attended Canton Actual Business College. She worked at several companies as a secretary and also was the Clerk for the Sebring School District. She was co-owner of Rarick’s Gift Shop in downtown Alliance and Canton’s Todd Highland Mall. She retired in 1987 and spent the winters in Florida, mostly Bradenton. Dorothy made over 200 afghans and lap robes for First Emmanuel Church and also for Alliance Community Hospital. She was a 53rd member of Sebring Eastern Star and a 50 year member of the Elks Auxiliary. Dorothy was a member of the Alliance Senior Center, several card clubs, the Starbright Line Dancers in Salem, and served as a volunteer at Alliance Community Hospital until her illness. She loved the time with family and get togethers. As per her request she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held on Saturday June 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First Emmanuel Church with Neal Mann officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial request may be made to the church at 208 East Oxford St. Alliance, OH 44601 or the Alliance Visiting Nurses 885 S. Sawburg Rd. Alliance, OH 44601.
