Eleanor R. Pao, 88, of Fayetteville, New York passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Menorah Care Center in Syracuse New York following a long illness. Eleanor was born in Smurna New York, on February 1, 1923 the daughter of the late William A. and Ruth L. (Owens) Marks. Mrs. Pao was formerly the chief of the Food and Nutrition division of the Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. where she had a very prominent career. She published several textbooks and scientific papers. She also taught at the University of Maryland and Howard University. Survivors include her husband Dr. Channing L. Pao, children Norman (Carol Campbell) Pao, Lucille (Gary) Mayne and Barbara Pao (Peter) Shanahan; three granddaughters, one grandson and one great-grandson. Dr. Channing Pao resides independently in his home in Fayetteville. Her devoted husband was by her side everyday. There will be no calling hours.
