Dr. Mary E. Bogar, 86, of Salem died Thursday, Dec. 20th at Hospice House in Poland. The daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Fink) Schaefer, she was born May 12, 1921 in Alliance. Mary is a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Salem and graduated from Goshen High School in 1938, she attended the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago and graduated in 1942. She opened her first office in Alliance and shortly after decided to serve in the WAVES during WWII. After returning from the service she opened a practice in Sebring and finally her recent practice located in Salem. Dr. Bogar practiced for over 50 years and was a member of the ACA and OSCA. She is survived by her son Charles A. (Linda) Bogar of Lebanon, OH , a son Thomas E. Bogar of Salem a daughter Jane E. (Bill) Roope of Bakersfield, CA a daughter Dr. Barbara J Bogar of Salem, a son Dr. William C. Bogar of Geneva, IL, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Charles Bogar in 1979, a son John Phillip in 1959 and her four brothers; Harry, Raymond, Howard and John. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Monday, Dec. 24th at 10:00 AM with Rev. Thomas C. Eisweirth, officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Salem.
