Edna Kress

Edna Verbell Kress, 92 of Salem passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Parkside Health Center in Columbiana. Edna was born in Washington, PA on February 21, 1922 the daughter of the late Emmett and Inez Verbell (Huggins) Cox. Mrs. Kress came to Salem from Leetonia in 1972 and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Leetonia for over 50 years, Salem Senior, Salem Retirees Club, volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Salem Memorial Building a former member of Lisbon Seniors and Midway Grange.
Survivors include her son Jim (Lorre) Kress of Salem, daughter Linda (Dale) Francis of LaFollet, TN, four grandchildren Pamela K. Velazquez of Poland, Matthew Kress of Orange, TX, Douglas J. Kress of Jupiter, FL, Christina L. Wyatt of Richmond, KY and 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Hazel Komorowski of Greely, CO, and Minerva Frye of LaGonda, PA. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alfonso “Al” Kress on December 16, 2007 and four brothers.
A Service will take place at Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM and the hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
