Elaine Clayton, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Alliance, Ohio, at the age of 82. Born on February 9, 1942, in Alliance, she was a lifelong resident of the community that saw her grow from a spirited young girl to a dedicated member of society.
Elaine graduated from Sebring McKinley High School in 1960. She embarked on a career as a secretary for Alliance Community Hospital, a role that showcased her organizational skills and commitment to service. Beyond her professional life, Elaine found joy in volunteering at the Rodman Public Library in Alliance, where her love for books and learning flourished.
A member of Sebring Presbyterian Church, Elaine's faith was a an important of her life. Her warmth and kindness extended beyond her immediate family, as she engaged in her community and cherished her relationships with friends and neighbors.
Elaine had a passion for travel and a fascination with birds. These interests brought her immense happiness, yet nothing compared to the love she held for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a proud mother to Todd A. (Jim Eidel) Clayton and Scott R. (Wendy Platt) Clayton. Her legacy will live on through her two cherished grandchildren, Reese and Taylor, who were the light of her life.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Jeffrey L. Clayton, whom she married on February 6, 1965. She also leaves behind her sister, Beth Beckman. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Lester R. and Kathryn (Krahling) Ball; her son, Trent M. Clayton; her grandson, Jacob Clayton; and her brother, Richard Ball.
