Elmer Lee Bales, 91 of Alliance passed away at his home on Sunday, November 13, 2016. Elmer was born in Miami, MO on September 5, 1925 the son of the late James and Ruby (Arni) Bales. He served as a Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps at the rank of Corporal during WWII, Elmer retired from Firestone as a Shop Foreman and then as Security Guard for Wells Fargo eventually retiring from there as well. Mr. Bales was a member of the Alliance Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed gardening and watching horse races and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his two sons; James Thomas Bales Sr. of Campo, CA, Terry Lee Bales of Arizona, 5 grandchildren; James Bales Jr., Jewell Ann Bales, Buffie Carter, Laura Bales, Jason Bales and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.  He is also survived by two sisters; Beulah Mae Lemons and Evelyn Norfleet.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Jewell (Murphy) Bales on August 7, 2011, a daughter Joyce Ann, a great grandson and three brothers; Rufus, John William and Wilbur.

A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Alliance LDS Church at 6:00 PM with Bishop Brian Saxey officiating. A time of visitation will be held in the Church Relief Society Room the hour prior to the service on Thursday from 5-6 PM. Burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 12:30 PM.  Friends may send condolences and sign the guest register online at www.grfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements are by Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home, Sebring, OH (330) 938-2526.
