Elzie W. Smith, 94, of Homeworth, passed away at Canterbury Villa of Alliance at 10:30 pm on December 31, 2007. He was born on March 25, 1913 in Grafton, WV, Delbert E. Smith & Matilda (Mouser) Smith Elzie, a farmer, he also worked as a carpenter for Morgan Engineering retiring in 1975. He was a life member of the American Legion George D. Worth post in North Georgetown and the Sebring VFW; he was also a member the Morgan retirees club. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dorothy (Risden) Smith, whom he married on Feb. 14, 1942, a son Robert (Norma) Smith of Salem; a daughter Carolyn (Ramon) Oesch of Homeworth; five grandchildren; Jill (Jeff) Reisner of Salem,Brian (Tiffany) Smith of Sebring, Brad (Jennifer) Smith of Beloit, Erin (Kevin) Gillingham of Sebring and Corey (Rebecca) Oesch of Chula Vista, CA and ten great grandchildren; Brent Reisner; Renee Reisner; Austin, Claire , Brock, Jed and Brynn Smith, Hunter, Rianna and Neely Gillingham. He was preceded in death by a son Ronald, his parents, his twin brother Orzie, brothers Rando and Hayward and four sisters Leona, Leatha, Betty and Louise. Services will be held at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 4, 2008 with the Rev. Rod Doran Officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.
