Emerson Hively

Emerson “Jay” Hively, 84 of Salem passed away on Tuesday, October 22nd at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Emerson was born in Canfield, Ohio on March 25, 1929 the son of the late Emerson E. and Bertha (Wineland) Hively; he was a 1947 graduate of Leetonia High Schooll and was a Veteran. Jay retired from A & P Stores and Giant Eagle in Salem. He was a member of the Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church in Salem, the Salem Masonic Lodge, a 32 degree Scottish Rite member and Past Worshipful Master of Leetonia Lodge.
Survivors include his brother Richard Hively of Leetonia and a sister Margaret Segesman of Canton. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Dottie and Wanda.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 25th at Brown Funeral Home in Salem at 11:00 AM with The Rev. Jerome H. “Kip” Colegrove officiating. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Jacob’s Cemetery in Leetonia.
