Eugene Spack

Eugene “Ike” Edward Spack, 92 of Salem passed away at Salem Regional Medical Center on Saturday, December 27, 2014. Eugene was born on January 19, 1922 in Salem, the son of the late Michael and Elisabeth (Hermann) Spack. Mr. Spack was a 1940 graduate of Salem HS, he was a US Army WWII veteran and a former POW. Eugene was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Saxon Club, Amvets, DAV; he received the Legion of Honor from the French Government and a bronze star. Ike was an avid golfer, and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Hilda (Seeger) Spack whom he married on August 31, 1946, two daughters Carol (Donald) Kuner of Salem and Heidi Spack of Salem; three grandchildren Christian (Emily) Kuner, Sean (Debra) Kuner and Nicholas (Heather Pastore) Prislipsky; four great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Ronald Edward and six brothers Mike, Simon, George, Robert, Albert and infant Rudolph.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30. 2014 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bill Wilkins officiating. Friends may call at Brown Funeral Home in Salem on Monday December 29, 2014 from 5-8 PM with the family present from 6-8 PM. Military honors will be provided by the Salem Honor Guard. Burial will take place in Salem Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Ike’s honor to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 251 South Broadway Ave. Salem, OH 44460 or The Saxon Club Scholarship Fund 1980 Newgarden Rd. Salem, OH 44460.
