Eunice A. Murphy, 86, of Sebring died on Friday, July 11, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. She was born October 29, 1921 near New Matamoras to the late Mary (Black) and William Dillon. She was educated in a one room school at Pine Knob and Salem Hall where she was within walking distance of the farm where she was raised. In the third grade she was allowed to go to Beallsville with her favorite aunt who was a teacher and that was the highlight of her early years. She was a 1940 graduate of Stover High School in New Metamoras. On October 10, 1942 she married Merrell A. Murphy of Alliance and he preceded her in death on March 15, 1988. Together they raised seven children while she was a homemaker and he worked at Babcock and Wilcox and later at Alliance Machine. After the children were grown she worked as a cook at West Branch High School and at Maple Ridge Elementary for 10 years retiring in 1985. She volunteered at Crandall Medical Center at Copeland Oaks in Sebring for twenty years. She was also an active member of RSVP, a long time member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Alliance and later joined the Westville Community Bible Church in Beloit where she was also an active member. Eunice is survived by five sons, Lorin, Larry, Daryl and Carl Murphy all of Sebring, Melvin (BeaJay) Murphy of New Philadelphia, two daughters; Sheryl (Jack) Windland of Alliance and Karen (Dale) Fay of North Benton, seven grandchildren; Kimberly Windland of Alliance, Kelly (Brian) Giffin of Alliance, Christopher Fay of Burton, Kevin (Christy) Fay of Medina, Amy (Dave) Fortney of Dover, Melody (Scott) Smales of Dalton and Scott Murphy of New Philadelphia, four great grandchildren; Kenny Rowe, Sunceya Murphy, Brooke Price and David Fortney, she is also survived by a sister Wilma Walker of Alliance and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three sisters; Bernice Moore, Anna Dye, and Florence Miller and three brothers; Lawrence, Carl and Eugene Dillon. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with Pastor Rod Doran officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8PM with the family present from 6-8PM. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park.
