Evelyn Mae (Krahling) Schmid

May 28, 1927 — May 9, 2015

Evelyn Mae (Krahling) Schmid , 87, of Sebring passed away on May 9, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on May 28, 1927 in Alliance, the daughter of the late Alfred E. & Anna Laura (Zurbrugg) Krahling. She worked as an assembler at the Genie Company retiring in 1988.  Mrs. Schmid was a member of the First Immanuel United Church of Christ, enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching, reading, jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, gardening especially flowers, but most importantly, spending time with her family.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 65 years, Herman J. Schmid whom she married on April 29, 1950 and a daughter Amy Steele of Columbiana. She is also survived by four sisters, Marcine Schmid of Alliance, Esther Coy of Salem, Ruth Ann Dalessandro of Hillard , Carol Hickman of Salem and several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters Kathryn Ball, Edna Beckett, Mary Louise Houston; three brothers Donald, Alfred, John and her son-in-law Ken Steele.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Pastor Neal Mann officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn’s honor to Sebring Volunteer Fire Department 235 E. Ohio Ave. Sebring, OH 44672 or Alliance Hospice 885 S. Sawburg Ave. Ste 106, Alliance, OH 44601.
