Finn Arthur Smith

9/20/22 - 6/09/23

8 months of pure love and joy

Sweet, sweet baby boy, Finn Arthur Smith, was welcomed into the world by his devoted parents, Becky and Brad Smith on September 20th, 2022. He was loved and treasured for 8 precious months of life. During that time, he saw and did more than many do in a lifetime. In Australia, he went hiking in the Daintree Rainforest, saw coral and tropical fish in the Great Barrier Reef, saw a crocodiles and a bull shark in the wild, slept through an opera, and explored Sydney with dear friends. In Hawaii, he took a boat trip to coral reefs, saw a humpback whale, enjoyed a luau, explored a tide pool, and hiked to the Manoa waterfalls. In the continental states, he spent a fun weekend in Vermont with his grandparents and touched the sandy beach of the Atlantic Ocean in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Back in Ohio, he enjoyed many hikes in various parks ranging from the local park in Damascus, to West Branch State Park, Mill Creek State Park, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

Finn was a treasure to behold with a contagious smile and giggle that warmed the hearts of all he met. He welcomed each morning with a smile and spent the day helping Dad coach the YSU Swim and Dive Team. As their youngest member, Finn brought love, joy, comfort and a welcome distraction to his swim family. His afternoons were spent at the campus Wee Care Daycare being loved, entertained and well cared for by an attentive staff. He was the center of attention in his family's active social life. He participated in Damascus Historical Society meetings, waltzed at Fred Astaire Dance Studio, and was treasured by adopted aunts at book club. He stole the hearts of friends, family and strangers everywhere he went.

Finn had a sweet and mellow personality. He loved life, had a curious and playful nature, loved to giggle, smile, interact with others, and preferred to always be on the move. He loved all water activities and never found a food he did not like. Not a day of his life was taken for granted as his family loved watching him grow and experience new things. He had two amazing sisters, Avery Hardy and Lacey Phillis who loved him dearly. Finn had two very adoring grandparents, Lewis and Melody Smith as well as a loving uncle, Nathaniel Smith.

He was his father's legacy. Finn's life brought more purpose and meaning to everything he did. His memory lives on in the many photos and videos captured and shared daily, as well as through the donation of his organs. While brief, Finn's impact reached so many and was so powerful that he forever changed his parents for the better and will live on in the hearts and memories of all of those fortunate to have met him.
