Fisher C. McGrath, 94 of Alliance passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Altercare of Alliance. Fisher was born in Alliance on September 2, 1918 the son of the late Elza and Dorthya (Roush) McGrath. Fisher worked in the shipping department at Porce-Alume Co. in Alliance for 24 years. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army serving in the 774th Tank Battalion and was awarded the Purple Heart with Cluster, and was a member of the Sebring VFW Post 6730. Survivors include his wife Margie (Mikes) McGrath of Alliance whom he married on December 10, 1993, four daughters Helen (Bruce) Tennis of Alliance, Pat (Archie) Williams of Berlin Center, Janet (Jimmy) Williams of Sebring, Betty Jo (Ron) Besso of Chesapeake, VA, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Glendora Gardner of Arizona. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by; his first wife Edith (Postal) in 1990, two sons; Kenneth McGrath and Carl Dawson, two sisters; Hattie Billings and Lillie Persello and three brothers; Elza, Leroy and Leslie McGrath. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Kimball officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8:00 PM.
