J. Floyd Hoopes, 92 of Sebring passed away at Alliance Community Hospital on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Floyd was born in Salem, Ohio on December 16, 1921 the son of the late James JW and Blanche (Briggs) Hoopes; he was a graduate of Sebring High School and received and associates degree in Business. Mr. Hoopes was a Us Navy Veteran and was employed at JW Hoopes and Son Ice and Coal, and retired from the Borden Company in Canton. Floyd enjoyed traveling and spending as much time as possible with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years Jane (Sharpnack) Hoopes of Sebring, three sons; Larry (Karen) Hoopes of Naperville, IL, Robert Hoopes of Dayton and Ross (Karen) Hoopes of Rochester, MN, 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Viola Iler of Sebring.
Friends may call at the Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home tonight, Friday January 31, 2014 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1st at 10:00 AM with Tom Palmer officiating. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery in Sebring. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Floyds honor to Pine Lake Christian Church.
