Frank Robert Barnett, 69, of Beloit passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Alliance Community Hospital. Frank was born in Alliance, Ohio on September 9, 1942, the son of Robert and Arline (Firestone) Barnett. A 1960 graduate of Goshen High School, Frank went to Heidelberg College for a year and then spent four years serving in the Air Force. It was while stationed in Texas that he met his wife Vera. Vera preceded him in death in December 2001. Frank and Vera owned a motel and mobile home park prior to his health related retirement. Since then he loved to do carpentry work and home improvement projects. He was the handyman to many friends and family, and it seemed there wasnât anything he couldnât fix. Survivors include his mother Arline, a daughter Lisa Barnett of Homeworth (whom he referred to as his âPee Weeâ), a son Brian (Chrissy) Barnett of Salem and a granddaughter Lindsey. Frank loved to tell people Lindsey was his favorite granddaughter. (He was picking on her a little, as she was his only granddaughter!) They were the best of pals, and Lindsey will miss her âPop Popâ dearly. He is also survived by his brother David (Christine) Barnett of Homeworth, sister Brenda (Richard) Vecellio of Oatman, Arizona; nephews Jeff Barnett of Damascus and Nathan; nieces Wendy and Amy. Frank had a wonderful sense of humor and maintained that even as his illness was in its final stages. One of his favorite new jokes was one he used on any nurses that he met at the hospital for the first time. He would say, âI used to take art lessons, do you think I could draw you naked?â When the nurses would politely decline, Frank would respond, âWell, how about if I wear clothes?â A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 12:00 PM at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Moore officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at North Georgetown Cemetery with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard. Memorial contributions can be made in Frankâs honor to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund, 1151 E. Sixth Street, Salem, OH 44460.
