Frank W. Myers 93, formerly of Beloit, passed away on May 15, 2009 at McCrea Manor Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy illness. He was born April 20, 1916 in Ripley, W. Virginia, the son of the late Charles and Mary (Seyler) Myers. He grew up in Bergholz, Ohio and moved to Alliance after World War II. Frank is survived by his wife, Martha Henderson Myers, formerly of Salineville, of over 68 years, two daughters; Sally (Ronald) Petrucci of Niles and Sue (John) Burkey of Alliance. He also has numerous nephews and nieces. Frank had 3 brothers and 3 sisters who preceded him in death. Frank served three years as a Field Lineman in the United States Army during Work War II, serving in Austria, Germany and France. He was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze stars. He retired in 1981 from the American Steel Foundries where he worked as a foreman in the core dept. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alliance and was a member of the Alliance Senior Center. Frank and his wife enjoyed traveling from state to state after his retirement and spent many winters in Florida. His greatest love was music. He started playing a violin at 14 and then later a guitar, a base and mandolin. He has sung with various musical groups over the years entertaining with his music, singing and jokes. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday May 19, 2009 at the Highland Memorial Park Chapel with Rev. James McCurdy officiating. Per Frank’s wishes he will be cremated and there will be no calling hours. Final interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit, Ohio. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society. The family deeply appreciates all the staff at McCrea Nursing Home for taking such good care of Frank for the past 2 ½ years.
