Gary Martin

Gary H. Martin, 73 of Sebring went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Friday, January 16, 2015 while at the Cleveland Clinic. Gary was born in Cedar Grove, West Virginia on November 9, 1941, the son of the late Willis and Alberta (Boyer) Martin. He was a member of North Benton Presbyterian Church, where he served as a church trustee, volunteered for the church community breakfasts, a 35 year charter member of Sebring Lions Club, retired from Transue Williams and was a chief steward for the Boilermakers local union for several years. Gary loved to coach baseball and softball, enjoyed bowling, golf, and especially loved to spend time with his family and attend his grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Barbara (Roth) Martin whom he married on October 4, 1964, a son, Gary “Marty” (Cheri) Martin of Beloit; a daughter Jodi Large of Akron; four grandchildren, Amanda Large of Massillon, Bobby Large of Akron, Garrison Martin and Hayden Martin both of Beloit. He is also survived by a brother William Martin of Louisiana, a sister Helen (Gene) Galbreath of Lisbon and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Emmalee and two brothers Howard, Thorton “Shorty”.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at North Benton Presbyterian Church with Rev. Herb Goetz officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Monday January 19, 2015 at Gednetz-Ruzek funeral home and the hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 12-1 PM at the church. Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s honor to North Benton Presbyterian Church, 19070 North Benton West Rd., North Benton, OH 44449, Alliance VNA/Hospice 885 S.
