Gayle Ann Whitehair, 53, of Salem passed away Saturday evening January 30, 2010 at Salem Community Hospital with her loving family by her side. Gayle was born in Salem on March 6, 1956 the daughter of Galen and Alice (Grace) Barrick. She graduated from Crestview High School and attended the Southeast Friends Church in Salem. Gayle loved to bowl and was a lifetime member of the Salem Amvets, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and family. Survivors include; her mother, Alice Barrick of Columbiana, her husband Hayward âShagâ Whitehair of Salem, two daughters; Melisa Tomlin of Salem and Bobbi Fisher of Alliance, two sons Hayward (Missy) Whitehair of Columbiana and Jay (Robin) Whitehair of Ellsworth, 11 grandchildren; Ieshia, Krista, Cassandra, Dallas, Billie Jean, Austin, Adreanne, Jason, Dalton, Clint and Haley. She is also survived by 2 brothers; Steve (Kim) Barrick of Lafayette, IN and Scott Alan Barrick of Lisbon. Gayle was preceded in death by her father in 1993, a brother Kevin, her son Jason and a grandson Zachary her paternal grandparents Gaylord and Evelyn Barrick and maternal grandparents Merle and Isabel Grace. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Southeast Friends Church in Salem with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating.
