Gene A. Dean, 77, of Salem passed away Friday morning, October 23, 2009 at Salem Community Hospital. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 8, 1932 Gene was the son of the late Everett and Ida (Bashor) Dean. Gene graduated from Salem High School Class of 1949 and was a US Army Veteran. He retired as Comptroller from Farmerâs National Bank in Canfield after 40 years in Banking. Mr. Dean was a member of the Salem First United Methodist Church where he was very active teaching the Family Circle Class, serving as a Lay Leader and Sunday School Superintendent. Survivors include his wife of 57 years Jean (Wachsmith) Dean of Salem whom he married on January 11, 1952, three daughters;, Dianne (William) Madjarac of Salem, Teri Dean of Baltimore, Maryland, Lisa Dean of Salem, 4 grandchildren; Dr. Kevin (Angela) Madjarac of Salem, Nicole Madjarac of Salem, Josh Fast of High Point, North Carolina, Anthony Fast of Salem and a great grandson Lucas Madjarac of Salem. He is also survived by a sister Bette Mae Waiwaiole of Birmingham, Alabama. A Service will be held on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Salem First United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug George officiating. Friends may call at the church on Monday the hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery in Salem.
