George M. Burrier, 75 of Salem passed away at Blossom Rehabilitation Center in Salem on Sunday, February 9, 2014. George was born on June 27, 1938 in Salem, the son of the late Harold and Mabel (Whitcomb) Burrier, he was a US Army veteran and worked as a Driver for ABF Freight System, White Star and Herron. He was a member of the Salem First United Methodist Church where he drove the church van for many people throughout the years, he was also a member of the Salem AMVETs Post, a life member of the Salem VFW, and a Masonic Member. George enjoyed playing poker, driving stock car, showing horses and worked in the Maintenance Department of the Canfield Fair.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Annie (Reese) Burrier whom he married on November 22, 1957, a daughter Susan M. (Joel D.) Smith, and a granddaughter Megan R. Smith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Beverly A. (Burrier) Hanes.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 13. 2014 at Salem First United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM with Pastor P. Douglas George officiating. Friends may call at Brown Funeral Home in Salem on Wednesday from 6-9 PM and the hour prior to the service from 12-1 at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
