George V. Slater, 66, of Louisville passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at his home in Louisville, Ohio. George was born at Cumberland, Ohio, October 16, 1946, and resided most of his life near Caldwell, Ohio in Noble County. He was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Ohio Farmers Union and enjoyed collecting model tractors. George devoted his life to agriculture. He enjoyed all aspects of his family farm, and away from the farm he served in leadership positions within Farm Bureau. He knew people all over the state of Ohio, from large dairy farmers to veterinarians who worked to keep livestock healthy and dairy products safe. He is survived by a sister, C. Linda Slater of West Virginia, and his brother Donald (Karen) Slater of Louisville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon W. Slater and Mary I. (Brown) Slater and also a brother Charles R. Slater. A time of visitation will be held from 1-4 PM on Saturday June 22, 2013 with a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home.
